In the comments you mentioned a penchant for medical/psychological books, and wanted to recommend a personal favourite, Dr. Jill Bolte Taylor’s My Stroke of Insight – it’s really quite good! I haven’t read Beautiful Ruins, though I know it comes highly recommended. Seeing as it’s the holiday season, I’ve been spending some time with Mr. Darcy and Heathcliff myself.
Happy reading!

I wasn’t at all expecting the same kind of brilliance that are the Potter books (quite honestly, I don’t believe any series will ever hold a candle to it), but Rowling really missed the mark here. It read like a bored author’s frivolous doodles, much like a preliminary draft, rather than a 500+ pg. final copy.
