Dyson Vacuum Cleaner
- Posted By: Anna & Kristina
Sometimes we come across a product that is so much better than the rest in its class. The Dyson vacuum is one of these products.
Features & Performance
- It really does suck! It picked up everything we put in its way, including pet hair.
- Both a canister and an upright, so you can switch from carpets to crevices relatively easily.
- Bagless, which makes it easy to empty, and there’s no need to remember to buy refills.

I disagree with this choice. I found when I tested this vacuum the attachments were in the handle and not easy to get at like other vacuums. We have hardwood floors and this vacuum didn't cut it for ease of use of attachments. The Bisell home/pet vacuum worked just as well, was bagless, easy attachemtns with a long attachment reach and was half the price.

I must comment on this pick. I too bought the Dyson after all the hype that seemed to be circulating everywhere. What a total waste of money!!! Yes, it is bagless but try emptying it out...especially if you have pets. I shake it, hit it on the side of the garbage can and finally end up getting a dull knife to clean out the dirt. I have the "ball" vacuum which is suppose to swivel and get under and around things...so not true. You would never have to go to the gym again if you used that vacuum 4 times a week. The attachments are awkward to use and it is to expensive for what it is. I have used this monster a total of 8 times and it has been sent for servicing twice. The first time after using it twice. I asked for a new machine because I think I got a real lemon and was refused. Customer Service is terrible as well. I spoke to the Manager when it wouldn't turn on and she tried to imply that I didn't know how to operate it at which time they made me do a diagnostic check over the phone for at least 5 mins. At the age of 50 I believe I have done my share of vacuuming and I certainly know how to TURN on an appliance! I have stored this heavy, awkward, difficult to use "vacuum" and have again invested in central vac...I vacuumed the entire house without breaking a sweat. What a pleasure to use something that works.

I have this vacuum and I love it. I haven't tried the other two mentioned in the comments above, but compared to my old vacuums (a Hoover and an Electrolux) the Dyson really sucks up everything. I have a husky who seems to shed continuously and I am always amazed at how much hair it picks up. It does take a little shaking to get it all out, and sometimes I need to dislodge a particularly thick hairball with my fingers, but I don't think it's any more cumbersome or difficult to use than any other vacuum. In fact, I love that I can use it as both an upright and a canister since the whole handle comes off with a super heavy-duty flexible hose (not like those crappy, bendable hoses made of cheap plastic that cracks easily). The attachments are all fit snugly to the base, which is great. Keeps them within easy reach. Sorry to hear about the customer service issue. I've had my Dyson vacuum for 2 years and have never had a service issue.

I own a Dyson and absolutely love it. With two pets in the house it really does the job. I have recommended the Dyson to many of my friends. It is a beautiful machine.
